Oral Skillz: From Tongue Twister to Tongue Tied

The morning sun cast long, golden fingers across the dew-kissed meadow, illuminating a scene of intense, silent concentration. Two sparrows, plump and feisty, had discovered a single, plump earthworm, each firmly grasping an end in their tiny, determined beaks. A tense tug-of-war commenced, a minuscule battle of wills played out in the soft grass. Their feathers fluffed in agitation, creating comical little spheres of brown and grey. They pulled with all their might, their tiny feet skidding slightly on the slick blades, but neither would yield their prized possession. The worm, a patient participant in this struggle, stretched to an almost impossible length between them. A third bird, watching from a nearby fence post, chirped with what seemed like impartial commentary on the stalemate. Back and forth they swayed, a perfect equilibrium of avian stubbornness, each refusing to be the first to relinquish their claim. The standoff was broken not by victory, but by a sudden, sharp cry from a hawk circling high above. In an instant, the quarrel was forgotten, the worm was dropped, and both sparrows vanished into the safety of a dense, leafy thicket.
